For sale is a very heavy duty alpha numeric lettering and number system for doing part numbers or identification, names etc. Unlike a standard set of characters which usually only gives you two of each number this unit can print 14 of the same digit or character. This unit is very rare as we have only made three of these to date. One was made for a gentleman in Utah that customizes guns and the second one was made for an individual that engraves part numbers on knives. Please note that this will only work on model GM desktop engraver from new Hermes.
This can be used on the much larger engravers but it requires you to do modification to the front tray to allow for the needed clearance to get the stylus up on top of the brass character sticks. We keep one of these in our arsenal of engraving accessories and it is used on a GTX machine that has a modified font tray that resembles a lowboy trailer that would be used to haul tall freight. The center of the tray drops down by three quarters of an inch and then allows the fixture to be used on that type of machine. A nice feature of using this fixture is that once it is set up and tightened it can then be carefully put away in a drawer and the same phrase or part number can be reused the next time it is needed. There are 48 characters on each solid brass stick.
24 of these are on one and and then you reverse the stick to access the other 24 characters on the other end. This prevents the stick from protruding over your work piece if you are needing a character at the very end of the stick. This units function is self-explanatory and is very easy to use and comes with all of the tools needed to mount it to your font tray. Once you assemble your phrase or part number within the window you then tighten the two stainless steel screws on the right edge of the fixture preventing the characters from moving during the engraving process. The centerline is indicated with an arrow pointing to the Center of the engraving window.
Please note that this is offset by approximately one half of an inch to allow for the aluminum protection piece that receives all of the scratches from the end of the stainless steel clamp fasteners. Please note the very rigid construction (8 LBS 10 OZ)and use of hardened steel dowel pins to assemble the bottom clamp plate. All of the hardware is stainless steel or brass. If taken care of this fixture could last a lifetime of use and it will never see any rust or corrosion because there are no carbon steel parts on it at all.
